If God be for us

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37–38

In all these things….

We all face trials, obstacles, insecurities, persecution, fear, accusations, and the list goes on and on… and sometimes the voice inside of us is our own worst critic. It’s inevitable that at some point we all face some sort of opposition, even if it’s within.

Paul wrote Romans and if anyone faced any of these, he sure did!

He said, “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors.” Not just some but all! He knew that he wasn’t alone: this was the key to victory. He knew that no matter what He faced, none of it would separate him from the love of God. That’s the greatest promise and the greatest gift. He is love and He promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He won’t quit loving us and He will never turn His back on us, even when others do.

God promised to work all things out for our good. All things, not just some. He never said it all would be easy or pretty but that He’d work it all out for our good IF we love Him and are called according to His purpose. This is a promise for the believers and followers of God. Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commands.” We know that He and the Father are One. As we follow Him through it all, He promises in turn to keep us in His love and loving care. His love is what keeps us and it’s His loving eye upon us. We rest assured in His promises!

We are MORE THAN conquerors. We don’t have to fear man. We don’t need their approval, or denial or permission to live for God and to please or to follow Him.

  • What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 Who???

What shall we say to all these things??? To anyone or anything that tries to come against, stop or slow us down? What then shall we say? If God is for us, truly who can be against us???Thats all we need to say, that’s all we need to know. Again, rest assured in the promises of God.

Paul was Saul before he was radically transformed by the power and Spirit of God! He went on to do mighty and great things for God. He was unstoppable and he didn’t wait on or crave approval from men. Once he had the undeniable encounter with God on his own Damascus road, (when he was living how he thought he should before He met God!), he never looked back. From then on he didn’t want to please anyone other than God! He had been commissioned and he was on a mission to spread the good news come hell or high water.

There was also King Saul in the Old Testament who was also transformed into another man by the same God, but his story didn’t end the same way. He was too worried about what the people would or did and didn’t say. It’s also a sin to be worried so much about people pleasing. We think rebelling against God in the manner of the more evident sins is worse, but they aren’t. We rebel against God by fearing man more than God and thus disobeying God.

The New Testament Paul wasn’t a perfect man and he even said he did what he didn’t want to do and didn’t do what he did (Romans 7). We all struggle with sin and will to the very end but he strived to go on. He made it his continual aim to please God and thus fought it day in and day out. If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive them all. It is a sin to please man or worry about what they will or won’t do. Paul was the same man who said this:

“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do,forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-15

He wasn’t perfect but constantly forgetting what was instead of tripping up over his own sins. He knew that God justified him. His goal was to please God. Therefore he also didn’t worry about what man had to say. He didn’t try to trip anyone else up either. He could have been his own worst critic or worried about what others thought but instead, he kept his eye on the prize and what God said. We are more than conquerors! We aren’t meant for failure or to keep tripping up over the same ole sins or what people say or do!

He was convinced that NOTHING or NO-ONE would ever separate him from the love of Christ and we must be too. Convinced! Not tribulation, not hard times, not distress, not persecution, not small talk, not danger. Nothing and none of it!

You might not feel like you don’t belong or fit in, and others may not think you are qualified - but you are called! You are chosen! You weren’t made to fit in. You are in Christ if you have been born again. You don’t have to worry about what anyone else says, what they think, what they say, what you think, or what’s threatened, because if God is for you (and He is!), who in this world can be against you?

Even if you feel all alone and misunderstood, not only do you serve a God Who can and will, but you have a friend Who sticks closer than a brother! You are never alone. That’s encouraging. Not only is He a friend but He is mighty to save. He can and He will. Be encouraged today that God is for you and that no one can be against you, try as they may. We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us and that means we get the victory and He gets the final say. Amen.

The enemy wants you to be against yourself and to believe everyone else against you too! He uses people just like God does. Don’t be that voice in your head. Fill yourself with God's Word; Truth. Don’t listen to the lies. Combat them with truth. You’re more than a conqueror through Him who loves you. The enemy of your soul also likes to try and convince you that you’re unlovable”, but you’re not! You are loved! Perfectly imperfect. But perfectly loved!

Come back with the truth! God loves you soooooo much that He didn’t hold back (though He could have, but couldn’t have because that’s how much He loves you) His One and Only Son but gave Him freely to take your place and your sin! That’s love unconditional and God already saw and knew everything you’d do before you did it. So no matter what they think or you say, God is for you and no one can be against you. So get in His word and get into agreement with Him.

It’s a miserable life to serve anything, or anyone, or any idea, or any opinion rather than God and His truth! All else is a lie. Anything that we worship or that concerns us more than God is idolatry. We must not concern ourselves with what they think but with what He says!

Who can condemn you, when it is Christ Jesus Who died for you? (Romans 8:33-34)

Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? Galatians 4:8-9

Remember: God has good plans for you so the enemy will try to stop you with who or whatever he can. Know the truth. Be unstoppable. God is for you.

The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe. Proverbs 29:25 It’s a trap! Don’t fall for the lie.

You can’t serve two! God is for you.
